Community Based Counselor.  Looking for part time Community Based Counselors for a non-profit agency in the Fairfax, Chantilly, Prince William and Loudoun areas. QMHP required. TFC Case Manager.  Looking for a full time case manager. Must have experience working with children and families. Candidates must be extremely organized and able to multitask. Therapist.  Looking for part time licensed therapists to work with children and families in the Chantilly and Woodbridge areas. Must have a LCSW, LPC or a related license. Candidates must be willing to work evenings and weekend hours. View the full job description.

Volunteer Opportunitie​s


​Thank you for your interest in volunteering with For Children’s Sake of Virginia. There are many opportunities for volunteers within our Therapeutic Foster Care (TFC) and the Community Based Services Programs.

You can also give us a call at 703.817.9890 for more information.  Once you’ve reached out, the Foster Parent Training Specialist will contact you within 3 business days and request a phone call or in-person meeting to discuss upcoming volunteer opportunities and where your skill set and your needs fit best. We would love to help you find the perfect volunteer position based on your skills, interests and availability!​
Please note: Since many of our positions will require you to work directly with our children in care, you may be required to complete a criminal background check before volunteering.


Fundraising Volunteers
Volunteer Fundraisers help to organize and implement external fundraising events by working on event committees.  Some of these projects may include:
  • Hosting a book drive in your local community.
  • Assembling Birthday Bags for our children.
  • Gathering items for Back-To-School Supply kits for our children.
  • Creating goodie bags for our fundraisers/picnics.
  • Serving on an event fundraising committee.
  • Organizing a dine-out night.
  • Assisting in our annual Toy Drive.
  • Organizing a fundraiser that benefits FCS!
Community Outreach Volunteers
Volunteers can be helpful in recruiting foster parents for our children as well as potential volunteers.  Ways in which volunteers could help FCS would be:
  • Assisting the Community Outreach Team.
  • Speaking with local businesses about potential partnerships.
  • Assisting the Recruitment and Outreach team with customer service and administrative tasks.
  • Contacting potential volunteers and donors.
  • Hanging flyers around Northern Virginia.
  • Speaking with local business about potential partnerships.
  • Cultivating relationships with other companies and organizations within the community.
Event Assistants
  • Event Assistants help staff with planning and running our events.  Some of our annual events include:
  • The Fall Foster Family Picnic.
  • Quarterly Foster Family Appreciation Events (ex. National’s Games, Appreciation Dinners and Luncheons, etc.)
  • Silent Auctions.
  • Holiday Party.
  • Volunteers will also assist with additional internal/external fundraisers and yearly events.
Childcare Providers
  • Childcare Providers assist when FCSVA facilitates informational sessions, trainings, support groups and events for our current and prospective foster families.
Skilled Support
  • Maintenance and Repairs Assistance.
  • ​Providing training as either our foster parents or teens in care using your skill set. For parents, this may include teaching on trauma, coping strategies for challenging behaviors, etc. For teens, this may include life skills such as sewing, cooking healthy meals, budgeting, interview and resume workshops, etc.
Transportation Volunteers
  • Transporting foster children, or children in our community-based program, as they meet with family members, therapists, etc.
